You Were Not There When I Wept

It didn’t happen alone,
I sensed your presence
As I do,
I felt you were there again.

But I didn’t see you around
Even after I searched you
Like a madman, or a child!
Whose loved one or a parent
Gone missing.

But you were there still
And I couldn’t find you
But I sensed it
As If you play hide and seek
With me.

I saw you smiling
behind the curtain,
Beneath the trees
In the shadow garden
Standing aloof.

But you were not there
I searched everywhere
Frantically,
And all at once, I felt
Loneliness all around,
Devouring me.

I sat down in the balcony
Looking for the stars
As we did.
And Your chair,
Empty like me,

Then the moon slowly crept
Behind the curtains,
The clouds
Like you,
And I felt,
Through a gush of wind
Like you have touched me
And taken me afar
From me

I looked back
And searched you in the dark,
But you were not there
When I wept.
